Dear Kelly,
It was so good to talk to you yesterday. Your call and spirit lifted mine away from a leaky roof and a broken furnace.
I am a strong believer that environment is a healing factor. How terrible it must be for a woman when she thinks, "My life has come apart and now here I am, having to live in a shelter." She probably feels as though she has hit rock bottom.
We have seen the beneficial results of a little pampering. For this reason we put a great deal of effort into helping a woman regain her self-respect and power from the first moments she is with us. Nothing helps a woman who has been beaten down recover her "self" like personal care and attention. Waiting for her in her room are personal care products that allow her to feel beautiful, enjoy the luxury of a delicious bath and begin to think she has worth — lots of it!
Another thing we try to do is have a new pair of pajamas set out for her first night here. Unfortunately about three or so months after Christmas our stock of pajamas is depleted. Therefore, I can't find words — much less the best words — to thank you for the 100 pairs of new pajamas. Knowing we won't run out of pajamas feels so good!
